Upcoming UCC Events


This email is intended to highlight professional development and career exploration events, programs, and resources for BSOS faculty and staff to share with students (e.g., on blogs, TV screens, etc.).

Tuesday, October 16 | 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

This event provides a unique opportunity for students and alumni considering law school to meet face to face with law school admissions representatives from across the country. Over 100 law schools typically attend this event. Suggested attire for this event is business casual.




Tuesday, October 16 | 5-8 p.m.

The Next Step Externship program is a unique opportunity designed for college Juniors and Seniors who are interested in furthering their knowledge of the finance industry, but want to do it in a quick, three session program versus a semester long internship.



Wednesday, October 17 | 4-6 p.m.

Learn how to finesse your USAJobs application for federal internships, fellowships, and permanent employment. Bring your laptop (optional) to begin building your profile or apply for a position right away.



Friday, October 19 | 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Public, private and non-profit employers will be in attendance to fill internship and full-time positions, as well as network with undergraduate and graduate students. All majors welcomed, but this event will be of particular interest to students majoring in Geography, Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Science and Policy.

Sunday, October 21 | 6-9 p.m.

This is an exclusive shopping experience for the UMD community. All career dress apparel and shoes will be an additional 40% off.



Monday, October 22 | 4-5:30 p.m.

Federal Government representatives will share details and bust myths about the process and how you can boost your chances to work with agencies like the FBI, CIA, State Department and others.

Tuesday, October 23 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Attendees will have a chance to meet with hiring managers and other employees to get insight into their experiences and the types of positions that comprise the Department.

Take a free professional headshot for your professional profiles (Careers4Terps, LinkedIn, etc.)! 

No appointments necessary. This is a drop-in event. Expect to take 5-10 minutes out of your day. Our photographer will take three photos, and email you the photo of your choice from the three options. You can expect your photo sent out within 7 business days post-event.

Intern For A Day
In order to receive an application to participate in Intern for a Day, you must attend an informative, 30-minute orientation session that will cover the application process, how you will be matched with a host, best practices when shadowing your host on-site, and how to show appreciation to your host after your experience.

Fall 2018's Mandatory Orientation Sessions (Choose 1 of 9 options- the week of Oct. 15) 
All sessions will take place in the University Career Center: 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing
