ROAD TRIPS TO THE REAL WORLD!
The University Career Center & The President’s Promise is working with EACE to offer students an opportunity to visit a select number of organizations over Winter Break. Site visits may include panel discussions of employees and/or interns, site tours, or networking sessions. The programs cost $10.00 per site. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the site, and they are responsible for any incidental expense they may incur.      Who:     Students who are interested in exploring career field opportunities.
   What:     An opportunity for students to learn first hand about a career field, network with employees and explore internship and job opportunities.
Where:     From Williamsburg, VA to Portland, ME and points in between (Boston, Ft. Meade, Philadelphia, New York, Pittsburgh, Providence, Washington, DC, just to name a few). And some pretty awesome businesses too in a variety of industries such has pharmacy, retail, media, non-profits, consumer goods, finance/accounting, and more!

Internship/Externship Program
Interns gain substantive experience in state and federal policy on issues affecting adults and children with mental disabilities and organizations that provide community-based mental health and addictions treatment. Interns conduct varied research — eg. legislative, social science, regulatory — and produce fact sheets and policy papers.

Recent intern projects include facts sheets and issue briefs on a wide array of topics — continuity of healthcare benefits for justice-involved individuals with mental illness, impact of state budget cuts on the ability of providers to serve clients in their communities, mental health and substance use disorder preventive and diagnostic interventions in the primary care setting, and the impact of national healthcare reform legislation on mental health and addiction services.

Qualifications
Interns should have strong analytical, writing, research and computer skills, including the ability to effectively use the internet. Graduate students are preferred, but stellar undergraduates with a strong interest in mental health, addictions, healthcare, disability policy, and public education are also encouraged to apply. Interns may work for academic credit or a stipend of $12/hour, up to $2,500/semester. Spring internships typically start in late January and end in mid-May. Both part and full-time positions are available.

Montgomery County Hotline, Mental Health Association of Montgomery, Hotline Counselor (Internship), Rockville, MD- 50664
The Mental Health Association is looking for applicants to become dedicated volunteers and interns for the Montgomery County Hotline. The Montgomery County Hotline is a 24-hour, telephone counseling and information & resource program that provides services to Montgomery County residents and concerned friends and family. Trained Hotline volunteers and interns provide telephone supportive listening, facilitation of problem solving, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and information and resources to anyone who calls the Montgomery County Hotline, Youth Crisis Hotline, or National Suicide Lifeline. As a volunteer or intern you will also have the opportunity to participate in agency work to inform and educate the community about mental wellness. The Hotline works closely with the Montgomery County Crisis Center as part of a continuum of services to Montgomery County residents.

Volunteers and interns are required to attend a 36-hour training, in addition to completing 16-hours of on-the-phone training with an experienced volunteer. St. Luke's House Inc., Rehabilitation Coordinator (Entry-level, Full-time)- 53408
St. Luke's House Inc. is a psychiatric rehabilitation program, working with adults who are diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness. We are a community based non-profit organization located in Bethesda, with satellite offices in Silver Spring and Gaithersburg. This program currently has a need for Rehabilitation Coordinators. Within this position you would be given the following responsibilities: Work with approximately 25 clients who are diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness.

The Rehabilitation Coordinator will plan, develop, coordinate and document all services received by their client caseload including the Vocational, Life Skills and Day Programs. They will act as an advocate, communicate their client’s progress to both internal and external treatment teams and ensure adequate communication is continuing between all treatment teams. The Rehabilitation Coordinator will also work to assess their client’s needs for living in the community and thus develop goals in collaboration with their clients.

As the 2012 Election cycle kicks into gear, a Maryland Democratic Party Spring Internship will be a valuable experience which will give 2012 graduates a leg up in obtaining a job in politics during the campaign year, as well as giving younger students an opportunity to gain experience and learn about the state, the political process, and to meet many of Maryland’s elected leaders.

 

A Spring 2012 Internship will be especially valuable because it will give a front row seat to:

·         The 2012 Maryland Legislative Session in Annapolis

·         The President Obama Reelection Campaign

·         2012 Primary Elections for the MD Senate seat, and 8 Congressional seats

·         The Statewide battle for the MD DREAM Act, which will be on the 2012 ballot

 

Internship Program

The Maryland Democratic Party Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in Maryland’s political process.
We are now accepting applications for Spring 2012 Maryland Democratic Party Internships. The Spring internship will run from January 2012 to May 2012 with the potential for an extension.  Internships will focus in several areas including fundraising, communications (social media), field activity, research and political outreach.

 

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

·  Draft communications for general distribution
·  Manage data lists
·  Assist in event planning
·  Communicate with Democratic Party officials, offices and staff
·  Build relationships with Democratic affiliated organizations
·  General research
·  General office support and organization

Requirements

·  An interest in politics, especially Maryland politics
·  Excellent written and oral communication skills
·  Interns should be prepared to use their own laptop computers if they have them.
·  Interns may be asked to attend events in Annapolis and around the state of Maryland

Schedule

·  Interns must commit to a minimum of ten hours per week
·  Schedules will be set with your direct MDP supervisor
