Meet the New Internship and Career Specialist in the Sociology Undergraduate Office!

Announcing a new resource for Sociology Majors:

Amy McLaughlin is our new Undergraduate Internship and Career Specialist

Amy McLaughlin
Greetings! It is my mission to help Sociology students find and secure meaningful internships that will allow you to apply what you’ve learned to the job market.  I have been a part of the University of Maryland for many years and have enjoyed working with students in many different ways, giving me valuable insight into helping students become their own best advocates.  According to the President’s Promise at the University of Maryland, every student should have the opportunity to participate activities outside the classroom that will enhance their experience at UM.  Remember, these kinds of activities will:

  • Clarify career interests
  • Build your professional network
  • Exercise your leadership skills
  • Broaden your horizons
  • Strengthen your skill sets
  • Give you a competitive edge

It’s never too early to start planning. There are many different kinds of internships so we can work to find one that suits your needs.  I look forward to working with you to take advantage of the many opportunities available to enhance your academic journey.

➽Set up a meeting today by emailing me at amclaug1@umd.edu or calling 301 405-6389.  Or drop by the Undergraduate Office (2108 PJM Art/Soc Bldg) to start exploring your options!
