Bio: Steven Swann is the Racial Equity Manager at Bread for the City, a non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, medical care, social services, legal services and community organizing support for people living with very low incomes in Washington, DC. In this role, he focuses on helping the organization play an active role in moving the city and wider society in moving toward racial equity - the condition wherein life outcomes, life chances, and life experiences in our society cannot be predicted by race.

Steven leads Bread for the City's efforts to develop policies, practices, and an internal culture that functions to eliminate racial disparities across the organization. He strives to make community members active participants and decision makers in the work of dismantling racism. In addition, he provides technical support to organizations and coalitions within DC and across the region who share the desire to advance the cause of racial equity.

Steven is the DC team lead for the National Collaborative for Health Equity and the Racial Equity Consultant to the Policy Innovation Lab in the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Steven is a cat dad, a soul/funk DJ, and a perpetually frustrated Baltimore Orioles fan.
