The Consortium for Health and Military Performance within the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Department of Military Emergency Medicine, is a Defense Center of Excellence. It serves a Joint Service Resource Center focusing on the complete range of disciplines associated with military-unique Human Performance Optimization and Total Force Fitness for maximizing Service Member performance and family readiness. We are involved in research, research translation, education, clinical, and leadership services.

The CHAMP Internship Program is available to high school-, college/university-, and post-graduate level students interested in developing skill-sets, gaining relevant experience, and advancing in their career paths related to Human Performance Optimization. CHAMP offers 8-week (Summer) and 16-week (Fall) internships. Scholarships may be available through the Uniformed Services University for high school and undergraduate students. Paid internships are available only for graduate students. Academic course credits can be arranged through the applicant’s academic institution.

Skills learned at CHAMP will be supplemental and/or additional to what students are able to learn in the classroom, such as laboratory research, client interaction, business/educational writing, etc. An internship with CHAMP may provide students with experiential learning, the opportunity to further develop and strengthen their resume and professional capabilities, and make them more competitive for employability.
