Volunteer Opportunity for Sociology Students

My name is Matt Devlin and I am a Site Coordinator with LIFT-DC, an advocacy organization in the District, and I am looking for bright and socially conscious Sociology students to volunteer with us in the fall.
A little more about us: LIFT clients and volunteers (called Student Advocates) work one-on-one to find jobs, secure safe and stable housing, make ends meet through public benefits, and obtain quality referrals for services like childcare and healthcare. Simultaneously, the LIFT experience pushes volunteers to grapple with the District's most challenging issues. We are looking for students who are dedicated to finding solutions and taking on leadership in this fight.

LIFT-DC is located within the Perry School Community Services Center in Sursum Corda, which serves as a hub of community support for the Northwest One neighborhood. We operate two additional sites at Bilingual Public Charter School in Columbia Heights and at THEARC in Ward 8. Beyond D.C., LIFT serves four additional regions: Boston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia.
