White House Internship Program: Employer Networking and Information Session

The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office and prepare them for future public service opportunities. The White House Internship Program’s mission is to make the “People’s House” accessible to future leaders from around the nation. This program allows employers to serve as "career advisors" to students seeking help. Employers participate in our daily rotation by providing career advice to students, in a 1-on-1 setting, on issues ranging from resume assistance to answering the question "how do I get a job like yours?” Online registration in advance is the best way to be sure you are seen at your preferred time (you can choose a 30 minute slot based on availability). However, we will take same-day walk-ins on a first come, first serve basis to fill any empty slots. There is no guarantee that you will be able to walk in and be seen at that time. Through the support of Sodexo Foundation, Share Our Strength has created a program to involve college-aged Youth Ambassadors in the fight against childhood hunger by working with one of our state No Kid Hungry partners. 10 Ambassadors will be placed in 3-5 state partner locations: Little Rock, AR; Hartford, CT; Baltimore, MD; and Albuquerque and Las Cruces, NM.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Ambassadors will concentrate on summer meals outreach, including:
• Planning and execution of summer meals canvass days in targeted neighborhoods of Maryland with a high concentration of summer meals sites
• Outreach to local libraries, churches, community centers, pools, or other locations where eligible individuals and families may be located during the summer months
• Assist Family League of Baltimore City’s mobile meals route and help increase capacity at other existing summer meals sites as needed
• Staffing the Summer Meals Hotline at the Governor’s Office for Children
The ideal candidate will have:
• A great attitude and willingness to work on all kinds of projects
• Some volunteer experience
• Good customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently
Daily access to a car and use of personal laptop and mobile phone required.  Bi-lingual (Spanish) candidates preferred. National Sexual Assault Online Hotline Internship, Summer Internship, Internship (Fall or Spring Part-Time)- 44024

The National Sexual Assault Online Hotline is the first secure web-based hotline providing live and anonymous support through an interface as intuitive as instant messaging. To learn more about the Online Hotline Internship please visit http://rainn.org/about-rainn/intern-at-rainn/online-hotline.
Duties:
•Be on time for shifts scheduled using the Online Hotline website
•Complete 40 hours of Crisis Intervention Training
•Follow computer safety best practices learned in the online training
•Remain supportive and engaged with visitors
•Provide accurate support using crisis intervention best practices
•Work on research and administrative tasks relative to the Online Hotline

Summer Internship

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is looking to hire several paid interns to work in the office throughout the summer of 2012. The primary responsibility of each Intern will be to provide campus tours to prospective students, families and groups visiting campus. Other responsibilities include responding to calls in our Public Relationship Services area, staffing the front counter and greeting guests in the Rossborough Inn and Mitchell Building, and collaborating with other individuals on special office projects as assigned.  For more information about this opportunity and to submit an application click  Summer Internship Application.

START Internships


The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland College Park is pleased to announce that we are now recruiting for our Summer 2012 Internships.

We have 22 different opportunities on a variety of projects. We are looking for students with a varied range of skills and competencies. Current and recently graduated students at both the graduate and undergraduate level are encouraged to apply.

Why choose an internship at START?

•             Experience working with a large team of dynamic and experienced researchers on a large multi-year project.
•             Hone and develop a range of transferable skills.
•             Opportunity to work with and meet other students and researchers with similar interests.
•             Enrichment activities offering wide opportunities for learning and personal growth, schedule includes simulations, career presentations and research talks.
•             Internships can be undertaken for academic credit.

General Requirements

•             Demonstrate an interest in the subject matter.

•             Agree to attend orientation and training.

Each project may have additional requirements.
