Operation Groundswell - Volunteer Internationally

BACKPACKING WITH A PURPOSE: 2018 APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
Operation Groundswell is a non-profit organization that runs volunteering programs abroad. We examine various social justice issues while working in solidarity with local activists, non-profit organizations, and communities. We are looking for globally conscious and socially active students who want to spend their summer exploring some of the most complex and beautiful countries in the world! 
If you're into cultural exchange, meaningful community service, and off-the-beaten path adventure, apply by November 22nd!
Programs are filling up quickly so apply as soon as possible.

Intern for a Day Information


Intern for a Day connects undergraduate UMD students with alumni, parents, employers and community partners for one day job shadowing experiences.


In order to receive an application to participate in Intern for a Day, students must attend an informative, 30-minute orientation session that will cover the application process, how students will be matched with a host, best practices when shadowing the host on-site and how to show appreciation to the host after the experience.

Fall 2017 Intern for a Day Orientation Dates (Total of 8 Sessions Available): 
All orientations take place in the University Career Center & The President's Promise
3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing

Please RSVP for the session that works best with your schedule.
Students will receive the application after attending one of the orientation sessions above.  Applications will be due Sunday, October 15 at 11:59pm.

The majority of questions about Intern for a Day's process and structure will be addressed during the mandatory orientation session.  For other questions or concerns, please email ifad@umd.edu.

Students who have already participated in Intern for a Day still need to attend one orientation session.

A vacancy announcement for a few survey statistician positions in the Demographic Directorate opened in USAJobs, Thursday, September 28, 2017 and will close at 11:59 p.m., EST, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.  This position is for a GS-1530-07/09/11/12 and the duty station for this position is in the U.S. Census Bureau, Suitland, MD.  The person(s) selected for this position will perform duties such as applying statistical theories, techniques, and methods to programs for collecting, processing, or presenting statistical information.  They will also develop and design survey questionnaires for paper and/or automated collection efforts and work independently and on teams to complete tasks for the surveys.
