The Fund for the Public Interest is a nationwide non-profit that runs grassroots campaigns on behalf of progressive groups like US PIRG, the Human Rights Campaign, and Environment America.
  
We're hiring graduating seniors to help run our campaign offices next year as Citizen Outreach Directors. It's a lot of responsibility, mainly focused on hiring, training and managing a staff that goes out into communities to build grassroots support for the above organizations and their campaigns. We’re looking for students who might be up for this challenge and would be passionate about working on environmental and social justice campaigns.

Young Playwrights' Theater Internship


Young Playwrights' Theater (YPT) seeks interns for summer 2013 as well as school year 2013-2014. YPT offers professional internships in Arts Education, Theatrical Production, Fundraising/Development, Marketing/Communications and Arts Administration/Management. Internships are available in semester, year-long, or summer units. Interns are treated as temporary staff members and are contracted for approximately 15 to 30 hours per week, depending on availability, in exchange for either course credit or a small stipend.

Working with YPT is a great way to learn about all aspects of running a small nonprofit theater and to gain hands-on experience in arts education and administration. No housing or transportation is provided.

Interested applicants should submit resume, cover letter and internship application to njost@yptdc.org. Cultural Embrace Internship


Are you still looking for an internship? If so, then come 2108 Art/Soc on Monday, February 25, from 1:00-2:00pm to meet with Emlyn Lee, Managing Director and VP of Outreach for Cultural Embrace in Austin, TX.

She will discuss internship and work opportunities in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Latin America. Ms. Lee, a UMD alumna, founded Cultural Embrace as a way to provide placements for students to volunteer and teach around the world.

Headfirst Camps is an award-winning provider of summer day camps and official licensed provider of MLB baseball camp instruction for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, and the Chicago Cubs. Our footprint is national and growing, and we’ve been designated as the metro Washington DC area’s #1 youth summer camp organization. The primary objective of the Program Leader is to develop our counselors into role models who build character in the campers and ensure that every camper has an extraordinary experience every day, while also ensuring their program operates smoothly and safely.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Coach the counselors on how to facilitate activities and games in a manner that maximizes growth and learning for every camper and minimizes passive time.
• Help counselors understand and implement the daily curriculum and schedule as outlined in the company handbook and in trainings.
• Lead large group meetings on a daily basis, implementing the Headfirst “show”.
• Take on additional responsibilities as identified or requested by Leadership Team.

Job Requirements:
• 18 years old and graduated from high school.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching or working with kids.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising and developing direct reports.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
