New! SOCY Upper Level Course Clusters (Optional!)

 



Attention SOCY Students:

Please see this link for information about 4 course clusters that will help you specialize your upper level requirements.  These areas are optional, but give you helpful information about how our courses can be combined to give you a deep dive into the thematic area, and come out with in-depth knowledge about a particular subject area in Sociology.

The Four Areas are:

Terp DREAM Scholarship - Apply Today!

 


APPLY TODAY: Applications for the Terp DREAM scholarship are due on Friday, April 1, 2022 by 1 PM. 
The Terp Dream Scholarship is intended to provide scholarships to undergraduate first-generation college students who have completed at least one semester at the University of Maryland. This scholarship will provide aid to undergraduate students who also have prevalent financial need. Multiple scholarships will be distributed. The monetary award for these scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year will range between $500 - $1,000.

PAID INTERNSHIPS AT START!

 The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism (START), based here at the University of Maryland, is now accepting applications for its Summer 2022 Internship Program! We are also very excited to announce that our program now includes a stipendStudents will receive $3,000 for summer semesters, and $2,250 for fall and spring semesters.


The priority application deadline, for best consideration, is on Sunday, March 13 at 11:59pm ET, and the final application deadline is on Sunday, April 3 at 11:59pm ET. We were hoping you might be able to share the information below with any students and other contacts who you think may be interested in these opportunities! 


START is currently offering our program remotely and plans to continue doing so in the summer. Accepted interns may have the option to work in person pending further public health developments, but all will retain the ability to continue working remotely if desired. Virtual information sessions:

Interested students are encouraged to attend one of our upcoming virtual information sessions, the first to be held on Thursday, February 24 at 4pm ET and the second on Wednesday, March 16 at 3pm ETThese sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the program, explore resume and cover letter tips, and to ask questions.
