Sociology Undergraduates: Do you know about the program Intern for a Day?
This is a Career Center program that allows you to shadow an employer or community partner for one day to give you exposure to a particular workplace and a chance to network and build connections for the future.
Sociology students who have participated in this program have:
-Turned the one day experience into a semester long internship
-Found out they did not want to work where they thought they wanted to work
-Made connections to employers that resulted in a job post-graduation
-Got started on developing their job search skills and made progress toward reaching their goals
How it works:
You must sign up for a mandatory orientation in order to apply. The orientation will cover the application process, describe how you will be matched with a host, detail best practices when shadowing your host on-site, and demonstrate how to show appreciation to your host after your experience.
