Dear Sociology Students,

Welcome back to an exciting Fall semester at the University of Maryland!  For those of you that are new to the department, I am the Career and Internship Specialist who works to create opportunities for sociology students to prepare for the job market.  Please set up an appointment to come see me today to find out about the tools available to you to find opportunities that will serve you well once graduation day is here!  Remember, to paraphrase The Game of Thrones, "Graduation is Coming!" - prepare and be ready!

Fall 2017 Sociology Events!

Fall Career & Internship Fair:  September 20^th at the XFINITY CTR. 12-5pm

LinkedIn Beyond the Headshot:   Tuesday, September 12, 2017 • 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm   University Career Center, 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing.  Learn how to build a LinkedIn profile. Find ways to make your profile stand out from the rest.

How to Find an Internship:  9/12; 10/2; 11/2; 12/5  A workshop geared toward positive first impressions on resumes and during interviews.  Learn strategies to connect with UMD alumni working in your intended field. All meet from 12-1 in the Career Center.

UCC Meetups:  Consulting 9/29; Human Resources 10/13; Government 11/3.  Roundtable style informal discussion about career opportunities in these industries.  All meet from 12-2 in the Career Center.
